Kids Ministry

About Our Ministry

We love and value kids of all ages at Citizens Church. Our hearts are to raise up the next generation, teaching them to love and follow Jesus the rest of their lives. To support this, we offer age-specific ministries tailored to children from birth through 5th grade, students in 6th through 12th grade, and college-aged young adults.

LittleCity

In our LittleCity preschool ministry, we build a foundation of faith for kids from birth to kindergarten.

We focus on five Foundational Truths–God is Good, God Made Everything, God is In Charge of Everything, God Wants to Talk With Us, and Jesus Came to Save Sinners.

KidCity

In our KidCity elementary ministry, we expand on the Foundational Truths by teaching kids in 1st – 5th grade about the Attributes of God — who He is and what He has done.

Kids Care

Kids Care is our name for child care during church events such as Recovery, Covenant Membership Class, and Women’s Bible Class. It’s a fun, safe environment for kids to build relationships and enjoy being at church while their parents are discipled in our adult ministries.

ABLE Ministry

Access | Belong | Learn | Equips
At Citizens Church, we believe that each person is made in the image of God. We desire to come alongside and support every individual to the best of our abilities. Because of our deep conviction and desire for those with disabilities to belong in our church, we created ABLE.

ABLE stands for access, belong, learn and equip. ABLE provides ACCESS to the gospel, community and care; makes a way for every person to BELONG; provides instruction so each person can LEARN in a way suited to his or her needs; and EQUIPS all people to do the work of ministry. See below for what we currently offer in our age-specific programs.

FAQs

What ages do you offer children's ministry for?
Our children’s ministry spans birth through 5th grade. Birth-kindergarten is called LittleCity. The program for 1st-5th grade is called KidCity.
Where do I go to bring my kids into the children’s ministry rooms?
Volunteers will meet you at Kids Check-In in the foyer, where they'll check you in and walk you to the classroom.

You can also pre-register your family so you can simply check in when you arrive!
What is service like for LittleCity (birth-kindergarten)?
LittleCity is not just childcare. It is age-specific discipleship for all kids ages birth - kindergarten. Children are placed in classrooms based on age. Our main ministry for babies on the weekend is prayer, so we pray over every child by name. As your child grows, we begin teaching them an age-appropriate curriculum, such as God's Big Story, and we always make sure to read from the Bible — God's true word. During class, we have a Bible lesson based on one of our 5 Foundational Truths, snack, arts and crafts, songs, and plenty of time to play with toys and books. Each week we provide a Family Discipleship Resource for you to use at home. These are also available on our website.
What is service like for KidCity (1st - 5th grade)?
Kids attend a large-group gathering where we worship through song and hear a Bible teaching. We build on the foundational truths from our LittleCity Preschool Ministry and focus on God’s Big Story by teaching the Attributes of God.

Next, they attend small groups where they dig deeper into the lesson they heard during large group, play games, do crafts and learn a monthly memory verse.

Each week we provide a Family Discipleship Resource (FDR) for you to use at home. These are also available on our resource page.
How will you keep my kids safe?
Safety and security is our number one priority, and we do many things to keep your kids safe while in our care. Our screening and training process for volunteers and safety measures we take while your kids are in our care are extensive, but a few key elements are highlighted below.

  • Every volunteer in kid's ministry has been thoroughly vetted, background checked, and trained. Additionally, they are a part of a team who works together to make sure each kid's needs are met.
  • Each classroom and hallway is continuously monitored by security cameras.
  • We adhere to age-specific ratios that are set below the state-mandated ratios in our preschool classrooms, while also adhering to a strict two teacher rule.
  • We follow strict check-in and pick up procedures. At check-in, your child receives a name tag with a three-digit code. You will receive a parent tag with your child's matching three-digit code, which MUST be shown to check your child out at the end of service. The codes change from week to week, so tags cannot be recycled. If something comes up and you're needed, the three-digit code on your parent tag will flash on the screens in the worship center, anonymously notifying you to come to your child's room.

These are just a few of the ways that we keep your kids safe. If you have any questions about safety, please do not hesitate to reach out to Sidney!
What services do you offer if my child has a disability?
We aim to create a welcoming environment every time a child is in our care. In both Preschool and Elementary Ministry, we have a philosophy of inclusion. We make every effort to have children of all needs included in their age-specific classrooms, programming and events.

When the need arises, we will assign a child an adult buddy who will provide one-on-one support while at service. Buddies are assigned only at the request of the parent or guardian. Both the buddy and the parents collaborate to create a plan that provides the right amount of support for each child. If you want more information about how to support your child within LittleCity or KidCity, please contact us.

You can also visit our ABLE Ministry page for more information on how we serve our children with disabilities.
